El jefe de la Organización de Energía Atómica de Irán (OEAI), Ali Akbar Salehi, condenó hoy el asesinato de un prominente científico nuclear y advirtió a los enemigos del país que están "jugando con fuego".
"No jueguen con fuego. La paciencia de los iraníes tiene límites y, si se agota, nuestros enemigos tendrán un nefasto destino", puntualizó Salehi en declaraciones a la agencia oficial de noticias IRNA al repudiar la muerte del académico Majid Shahryari.
Shahryari perdió la vida este lunes cuando desconocidos a bordo de una motocicleta atacaron el automóvil en el que viajaba con su esposa en dirección a la Universidad de Shahid Beheshti, en el norte de Teherán, causándole la muerte en el acto y heridas leves a su mujer.
Precisamente, el titular del OEAI visitó en un hospital capitalino al también científico Fereydoun Abbasi, quien resultó lesionado hoy junto con su esposa en un ataque terrorista similar cuando se dirigía a la misma casa de estudios donde trabaja.
La prensa estatal se refirió a Abbasi como un investigador de la esfera atómica que también labora en el Ministerio de Defensa.
El Gobierno de Irán acusó a "agentes de Israel" de estar detrás de los dos atentados y Salehi, por su lado, remarcó que la República Islámica "tolerará esa animosidad hasta cierto punto", pero declinó hacer mención al Estado sionista.
Agregó que los enemigos de la nación persa deben estar conscientes de que Irán trabajará para eliminar todos los obstáculos y tratar cuanto antes de lograr sus aspiraciones.
Esas acciones violentas, apuntó el también vicepresidente iraní, nunca detendrán la voluntad nacional de continuar por la senda de los científicos asesinados, como Shahryari, de quien dijo "fue mi estudiante durante años y tenía buena cooperación con la OEAI".
Según Salehi, el extinto académico estaba a cargo de uno de los grandes proyectos de la institución iraní que dirige. "Aumentaremos el movimiento nuclear de Irán", anunció.
